Pakistan's rice exports increased 17.21% in ten months to $2.051 billion

Rice shipments increased by 17.21% in the first ten months of this fiscal year compared to the same period previous year.

From July to April 2021-22, 4,044,269 metric tonnes of rice worth $2.051 billion were exported, compared to 3.190,559 metric tonnes for $1.750 billion during the same period last year. According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Basmati rice exports increased by 22.12 percent during this time period, while other rice exports increased by 15.44 percent, with 532,407 metric tonnes of basmati rice worth 574.220 million being exported vs 508,691 metric tonnes costing $470.195 million.

Exporting around 3,411,862 metric tonnes of rice other than basmati rice brought in $1.477 billion in the last ten months of this fiscal year, compared to $1.279 billion in the same period the previous year.

In April 2022, the country’s rice exports will be increased to 36.94 percent per month.

which has increased to 461.513 metric tonnes at a cost of $511.806 million, up from 307,546 metric tonnes at a cost of $189.616 million the month before.

In April 2022, the value of food imports into the country was $697.866 million, down 12.61 percent from the previous month.

In the last month, $777.958 million was spent.

Many of the $7.747 billion worth of food products were imported in the first 10 months of this fiscal year, compared to $6.899 billion in the same period last year.

In comparison to the same period the previous year, food imports into the country increased by only 12.30 percent from July to April in 2021-22.
